In September 2025 we launched our new Hymn Book appeal. We have had our current Hymn book in place for many years. Whilst these have served us well, many copies are seeing better days with most of the choir copies now falling apart. Many familiar hymn texts in the current “Hymns Old and New” have been altered and there are a number of errors. Other advantages of the new hymn book include a broader range of seasonal hymns (many of which we currently print on separate pieces of paper) and many Taizé settings. The book has other good features which will benefit the choir. However, fewer worship type songs are included so it is proposed to create a supplementary 'in-house' booklet as well. The PCC have approved the replacement which will be The Revised English Hymnal.
We are aiming to purchase 150x words only (£10 each) books for general congregational use, 5x large print word (£18 each) books and 30x full music (£27 each) for the Choir. We have therefore around £2400 to raise to cover the cost.
