At Holy Cross Church music continues to be a vital part of worship and entertainment . Our Director of Music, Tim Guntrip has identified that as time has gone on our beautiful organ needs some expensive maintenance work doing to it hence our
ongoing fundraising.  The following items need some attention:

  • Pedal Coupler Renovation - £1,000
  • Cleaning & overhaul - £20,000
  • Electrification – either/or
    • Partial Electrification on £16,000
    • Complete Electrification on £26,500
  • Tonal Alterations – Some nice to do’s but some may be done - Up to £22,200
Costs, depending on what is done ranges from the minimum work of £37,000 to the maximum of £67,700.  To have some work done at a later stage would incur extra costs as this would involve taking the organ apart again.

We are very grateful to those from outside the church who have put on social and fundraising events, often for our Church funds.  These include the Ashdown Singers and Fletching Singers presenting a Spring Concert in Church in aid of the
Holy Cross Church Organ Fund.  Also, Two Become One concert (Uckfield Singers and Uckfield Soul Survivors) kindly sponsored by CPJ Field, raised £1,291.27 for the Organ Fund.

We are lucky that our Organ has stood the test of time well, but it now needs a overhaul to ensure it can continue to support regular Sunday worship, weddings, baptisms and funerals, as well as choral concerts and organ recitals.
