In the Church of England, "meeters and greeters" are volunteers who play a crucial role in welcoming people to church services. They are responsible for creating a warm and inviting atmosphere, offering assistance, and ensuring a positive first impression.

Here's a more detailed look at their role:

Welcoming and guiding visitors
They greet people as they arrive and help them find their seats or navigate the church.

Assisting with practical needs
They may help with things like finding information, answering questions, or directing people to the coffee area.

Creating a friendly environment
Their warm smiles and friendly demeanour help to create a welcoming atmosphere for everyone.

Supporting the church community
They may also help with tasks like collecting offerings or ensuring the smooth running of the service.

Being a point of contact
They are often the first point of contact for visitors and can provide helpful information about the church and its activities.

Representing the church
They are essentially ambassadors of the church, and their actions can significantly impact a visitor's first impression.
