Book of Common Prayer

Across our churches within the Holy Cross Plurality, there will be several services across the week which follow the Order of Holy Communion using the Book of Common Prayer.  Please see The Grapevine for details of services.  These services are often said (no Hymns).

Holy Communion within the Book of Common Prayer refers to a specific service, also known as the Lord's Supper or Eucharist, that forms part of the worship practices of the Anglican Communion and other related Christian churches. It's a liturgical tradition where bread and wine are shared to remember Jesus' sacrifice and receive spiritual nourishment, with the bread and wine believed to represent his body and blood. The Book of Common Prayer (BCP) provides a structured framework for this service, including prayers, readings, and instructions for the celebration of Holy Communion.

The Book of Common Prayer emerged from the English Reformation and has been used for centuries to guide Anglican worship, including Holy Communion.
