Our Crib service at Holy Cross is a family-friendly service and is one of our most popular services in the year, often held on Christmas Eve, that celebrates the birth of Jesus through the retelling of the Nativity story. This service is designed to be engaging for all ages, often featuring puppets, children dressed as characters, and a gradually unfolding Nativity scene.

Focus on the Nativity
The service centres around the story of Jesus' birth, including the arrival of Mary, Joseph, the shepherds, and the wise men.

Child-friendly format
Many Crib services are designed to be interactive, with children often playing roles in the story.

Use of puppets or props
Some churches use puppets or other props to bring the Nativity story to life.

Music and hymns
Crib services often feature music and hymns, including traditional Christmas carols.

Prayer and reflection
The service provides an opportunity for prayer and reflection on the meaning of Christmas.
